Foundation walls and basement

Foundation walls and strip footing are currently the most popular foundation methods.

But threes methods are not as fast and convenient as the ground slab.

To make the strip footing, Izodom recommends the MCFU 1/50 elements. They have 5-cm insulating walls and a 40-cm space where you put the reinforcement and pour the concrete.

The strip footing should be made on a layer of lean concrete and horizontal waterproofing membrane. After the strip footing has been concreted, the waterproofing membrane is made on its horizontal and vertical surfaces. On the strip footing prepared in such a way, you make foundations using the shuttering elements with the adequate thickness of insulating walls. If you opt for the MCFU or MC elements, you can have the core thickness of 15 or 20 cm, and the insulation thickness of 5, 10, 15 or 25 cm. This insulation will protect the building from freezing.

Basements:

The Izodom elements can be used to build basement walls. They are erected just like the outside walls. However, due to the ground pressure they need to be reinforced and the styrofoam-compatible damp proofing membrane should be made wherever the groundwater level is high.

The walls and the damp proofing membrane should be protected in order not to affect their continuity when the excavation is back filled.

The figure shows the use of polyethylene damp proofing membrane to protect the basement wall insulation.

The figure below shows the method of supporting the outside bricks on the strip footing.
